Ekco Hawkins Tiffeematic 1967

LG Hawkins was a Director of Pye Ltd as early as 1950. When Pye and the radio manufacturers E K Cole merged in 1960, there was inveitably some rationalisation and eventually the Ekco and Hawkins operations were merged.

Ekco had not made teawakers before, but in 1947 they had manufactured a clock radio, the Radiotime, a very modern looking appliance compared to the Goblin Timespot of the same date.

The new company EKCO Hawkins produced several teawaker models. In a copy of their first joint product catalogue, dated 1967, there are three models: the Tecal LGH 4400 and 4000CH, and the Tiffeematic LGH1700, shown here. In the foreground is the top of the Boilette LGH255.
